Dr Gerald Pinto and His Literary and Educational and Social work

1. M Sc in Physics from My sore University from Mangalagangotri Konaje in 1981, PhD in Physics from Mangalore University in 1992, Diploma in Journalism 1n 1982, P.G Diploma in Konkani in 2000.
2. Joined Milagres College in 1981 as part time lecturer when Science section was introduced in this College.
3. Research work:

Along with teaching in Milagres College continued research work at Mangalore University under Dr K Siddappa then H O D of Physics and later Vice Chancellor of Bangalore University in Gamma Ray scattering and obtained Ph D in 1992.

 He has published 7 Research articles in international Journals published from

U K and presented 5 papers in National Symposia.

4. Literature work:

 (i) Literature work began in the year 1973 when was in 9^th STD by publishing short stories. Since then written more than 600 articles, 30 stories, several poems, 6 Novels, 11 other Books out of which one in English and two in Kannada. He has also edited two books for Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy. Thisri Thakli( Third generation) is his famous Novel, Great Konkani people of 20^th century is the most famous book , Unnatha Shikshana mattu udyoga avakashagalu most famous book published in English, Konkani and Kannada.

  (ii) He is the editor of the Monthly Paper Amcho Sandesh, quarterly Paper Milarchim Laram and Kannada quarterly Sam parka.

(iii) He has given training in articles writing and short story writings in the work shops. He has also presented papers in the national and regional conferences about Konkani literature.  He contributes regularly to the Konkani papers, and website magazines Daiji world, maaibhaas .com, Konkani friends U K, Mangaloreen.com and Daiz.com.

He is also is the president of Udupi District Konkani Sang tan.

  He has also under taken research about Konkani people of 20^th century and about folklore in Kudubi Konkani community.  He has given several talks in Konkani in AIR Mangalore.

(v) He has started a publication Divya Deepa publication to publish books in Konkani and has published 7 books.

(vi)   He has been awarded Danti Memorial literary award in 1997, Divo Sahitya award 2007 by Divo Weekly Mumbai, Konkan Star award by Konkani friends .com  U K and honored by several organizations for his contributions for Konkani.

4. Social activities:

  His main interest is to provide carrer guidance to the students and youth. He has given more than 600 seminars and talks for the students of SSLC, PUC and Degree. 

Arranged training for B Ed entrance, High School and School Teachers selection and KPSC selections.  He has also written career guidance books in Kannada, English and Konkani.

He was the president of Catholic Saba Mangalore Diocese comprises of Udupi, D.K and Khasargod Districts 1994-06.  when president he was responsible to start Manasa rehabilitation and Training centre for mentally challenged and Hearing impaired children and now serving as the secretary of this trust. He was the president of Udupi District Minority forum.  He also served as secretary of Mangalore University Physics Teachers Association and Jt Secr
